So suffice to say I may have gone a wee bit over board with the whole "I'm gonna treat myself for my birthday" excuse, but heck I was turning 40, a pretty hefty milestone I feel. Not to mention, being a November baby means their is some awesome stuff in the shops for holiday season. Too much. Lol

So here's a look at what I picked up.

Just A Little Lip Service

JUST A LITTLE LIP SERVICE

Recently I've really been getting back into lip colour again. I went through a phase when a slick of Eight Hour Cream was all I could be bothered to reach for. Whereas before in my late teens and early 20s I loved experimenting with different colours. Thankfully I've rekindled my love of liptastic colours and what better time with such an array on offer. Swatch number 2 is an old Oyster Girl from over 18 months ago. As you can see the colour has stayed true when you compare it to that of one purchased just a week ago.

Even though Stone is a matte lipstick it is not at all drying. I normally still have to apply lip balm through out the day even when wearing lipstick but with this I did not. It's the perfect dark nude for chocolate skinned beauties.

I have been using these 2 shades of lipglass for over 10 years now. they have definitely become my go to staples. Please MAC never discontinue them.

If you are of a darker toned complexion these shades will look amazing on you. These will also look great on fairer complexions but the finish and effect may differ so it is worth trying a shade up or down to do so.

January Haul

For the first time in my adult life I can honestly say I didn't go too crazy with the January sales or general purchases. January is already a very difficult month as it is anyway. Many of us are trying to recover from the dent in our wallets the holiday season has bestowed upon us and then on top of that if like me you have to wait a good 5 weeks between your December and January pay, then you know how even more precious every single penny is. This year I played it clever. Somehow during the latter months of 2013 I made double final payments on 2 of my cards and between them was in credit near on £80. I also had a couple of gift vouchers stashed away. I had the good foresight to save them for the tighter months of January so I could indulge in some sale shopping.

Anyhoo this is my little haul of goodies.

Basically Chic

The summer is all but over and what a glorious one we had this year. Let's hope we get a repeat performance next year. However with a change in weather comes a change in my choice of clothing. The one material I feel you can wear all year round is jersey material. It is my go to material, my little bit of all season fashion comfort. But comfort doesn't have to mean dull, unstylish or shabby, which so often is the case. Most of the high street stores worth their weight in gold have a section dedicated purely to simple jersey pieces. Garments ranging from basic t-shirts and vests to dresses, trousers and skirts. Easy pieces you can just throw on and go.

These same pieces can also be dressed up with a few choice accessories to give a more dressier look.
